The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has extended its special passport intervention exercise in the United Kingdom by two weeks following a strong response from Nigerians seeking passport services.

The exercise, being conducted in London and Manchester, will now run until October 3, 2026, instead of ending on September 19.

1,477 Nigerians Processed in Four Days

The Immigration Service said 1,477 Nigerians were successfully processed and enrolled during the first four days of the exercise.

More than half of those enrolled have already had their passports produced and sent to their respective addresses, the agency said.

The extension was approved under the directive of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to create additional capacity for eligible Nigerians who have yet to access the service.

The NIS Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, said the extension would allow more applicants to benefit from the intervention.

The agency also advised applicants to schedule appointments through the official website of the High Commission of Nigeria in the United Kingdom.

Applicants are expected to attend with the required documents, including a completed application form, payment receipt, appointment slip, current passport where applicable, and a self-addressed return envelope.

Passport Process Remains Cashless

The NIS reiterated that its passport application and payment procedures remain fully automated and cashless.

It warned applicants that no additional payment is required to participate in the special intervention.

The stated fees remain $162 for a five-year passport booklet and $242 for a 10-year passport booklet.

The agency said further details concerning participating locations, appointment arrangements and the extended schedule would be released through the official communication channels of the NIS and the Nigerian High Commission in the UK.
