At least 10 people have been killed and nearly 100 others injured after a Russian ballistic missile hit a military training site near Kyiv, where a drone and defense technology exhibition was taking place, according to Ukrainian authorities.
The attack happened on Friday in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region. Defense manufacturers, military personnel, and industry representatives were gathered there for the exhibition. The missile caused significant damage to the venue, nearby residential buildings, and vehicles.
Officials described the event as one of the deadliest recent strikes. Emergency responders rushed to the site to rescue survivors, put out fires, and transport the injured to hospitals. They warned that the casualty figures might increase as rescue efforts continue.
In response to the attack, Ukrainian prosecutors began two investigations. President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the strike, accusing Russia of intentionally targeting Ukraine’s defense sector and civilian infrastructure. He reiterated demands for additional Western air defense systems, especially Patriot missile batteries, stressing the urgent need for stronger protection to defend Ukrainian cities from ongoing missile attacks.
