Veteran Nollywood actress Sola Sobowale has expanded her work beyond the entertainment industry with the launch of Joseph & Esther Homes, a residential care facility for older adults in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde inaugurated the facility on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Located in the Akobo area of Ibadan, the home is designed to provide senior citizens with a safe and supportive environment where they can maintain their independence while receiving professional care and assistance.
Operating under the tagline “Live Well, Age Well, Thrive Together,” Joseph & Esther Homes describes itself as “A Place to Call Home.” Its services include residential accommodation, personalised support and professional care, while helping residents maintain connections with their families.
The facility’s philosophy is summed up in its statement: “We do not replace family. We help families care better.” It aims to support relatives who may struggle to provide round-the-clock care because of work, distance or other responsibilities.
Sobowale’s move into elderly care follows her own experience in the sector. After relocating to the United Kingdom in 2004, the actress reportedly worked as a caregiver, obtained National Vocational Qualification certificates at Levels 2, 3 and 4, and eventually became a team leader.
Her experience in caregiving adds a personal dimension to the establishment of the Ibadan facility, marking a new chapter in her career beyond her celebrated work in Nollywood.
