Nigeria Fashion Week has made its debut in Abuja, bringing together more than 40 Nigerian and international designers, models, entrepreneurs and industry stakeholders for a four-day showcase focused on fashion, business and investment.
The 2026 edition was held at Soul Lounge Resort in Jahi, marking the first time the annual event took place in the Federal Capital Territory after previous editions in Lagos.
The programme ran from Thursday, October 1, to Sunday, October 4, combining runway presentations, business networking, entrepreneurial discussions and awards.
Opening Event Focuses on Capital and Creativity
The event opened on October 1 with a welcome cocktail hosted by Africa CEO Club in partnership with Legendary Gold Limited and Nigeria Fashion Week.
Held under the theme “Where Capital Meets Creativity,” the gathering brought fashion professionals, business leaders and invited guests together to explore partnerships and investment opportunities within the creative sector.
The opening ceremony also highlighted the economic potential of Nigeria’s creative industries, with the Federal Government calling for increased investment and stronger support for the sector.
Designers Showcase Contemporary and Sustainable Fashion
The main runway programme featured collections reflecting diverse creative styles, cultural influences and contemporary fashion trends.
On Saturday, October 3, the programme adopted the theme “Going Green,” placing sustainability and environmental awareness at the centre of the showcase.
The presentations encouraged attention to more responsible approaches to fashion design and production, while giving participating designers an opportunity to demonstrate their creativity.
Forum Connects Fashion Entrepreneurs With Investors
The final day, Sunday, October 4, focused on enterprise development and industry recognition.
A major activity was the Nigeria Fashion Entrepreneurial Forum, designed to connect fashion entrepreneurs with policymakers, financial institutions and potential buyers.
The event ended with the Nigeria Fashion Awards and Gala Night, which recognised contributions to the growth and development of the fashion industry.
Abuja Move Targets Wider Industry Participation
Organisers said relocating the event to Abuja was a deliberate effort to expand opportunities for designers and strengthen engagement between the fashion industry, government officials and investors.
With more than 40 designers participating, the 2026 edition sought to demonstrate that fashion extends beyond creative expression to include entrepreneurship, investment, employment and wider economic activity.
The event’s business-focused approach also highlighted the importance of connecting creative talent with the finance, market access and institutional support needed to grow fashion enterprises in Nigeria.
