President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to visit Akwa Ibom and Rivers states as political activities surrounding the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum.
The President will begin his South-South engagements in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Friday, November 6, where he is expected to inaugurate several infrastructure projects completed under Governor Umo Eno’s administration.
Among the major facilities scheduled for inauguration are the new International Terminal Building at Victor Attah International Airport, the International Airport Hospital and the Ibom Aviation Village.
Other projects expected to be commissioned include the ARISE Palm Resort, Ring Road 3 Extension, the Nsit Atai–Okobo Road and the state’s Security and Command Centre.
The visit will also feature a political rally in support of Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the planned engagements, explaining that the visits would provide opportunities for interaction with political stakeholders, party members and supporters.
Governor Umo Eno has declared Friday a work-free day in Akwa Ibom to enable residents, particularly civil servants, to participate in the presidential reception.
The governor, who was elected in 2023 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in June 2025. He subsequently declared support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
Following his engagements in Akwa Ibom, Tinubu is scheduled to travel to Rivers State on Saturday, November 7, for an APC presidential campaign rally.
The Rivers event is part of the party’s wider mobilisation programme ahead of the next general election.
Tinubu had previously explained that he would not personally attend every campaign rally across the country, citing the need to balance political activities with his responsibilities as President.
The two engagements are expected to bring together APC leaders, political stakeholders and supporters in the South-South region as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.
The presidential visit combines the commissioning of state infrastructure projects with political engagements in two strategically important South-South states.
