Troops from Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, collaborating with the Nigeria Police Force as part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued 33 kidnapped passengers in Zamfara State’s Tsafe Local Government Area.
Lt-Col Aliyu Danja, the media information officer for JTF North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, shared this information in a statement on Sunday.
According to Danja, the rescue operation occurred on August 8 after receiving credible intelligence indicating that terrorists had kidnapped travelers in the Magazu area of Tsafe LGA.
After receiving this information, the troops and police officers stationed in Tsafe quickly mobilized to the area.
The spokesperson added that security forces came across the terrorists as they were moving the abducted passengers to a hidden location.
The troops engaged the terrorists with effective firepower, causing them to flee into nearby bushes and abandon the victims.
He added that all 33 abducted individuals were safely secured and rescued without any casualties.
