PDP Crisis: Turaki Faction Explains Why Court Judgment Favoured Wike’s Camp

The leadership of the Turaki faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to a recent court judgment believed to have strengthened the position of the camp loyal to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, offering its interpretation of the ruling.

According to the faction, the court’s decision was based strictly on legal and procedural issues presented before it and should not be interpreted as a final resolution of the party’s internal leadership crisis.

Speaking after the judgment, representatives of the Turaki faction maintained that while the ruling may have favoured Wike’s camp in the immediate circumstances, it does not extinguish the legal and constitutional questions surrounding the dispute within the party.

The faction reiterated its commitment to pursuing all lawful avenues to defend its position, expressing confidence that subsequent legal proceedings or internal reconciliation efforts could still shape the outcome of the prolonged crisis.

The judgment is the latest development in the leadership tussle that has continued to divide the PDP, with rival camps laying claim to the party’s structures and decision-making authority. The internal disagreements have raised concerns among party members ahead of future political contests.

Political observers believe the outcome of the legal battle could significantly influence the PDP’s efforts to rebuild unity and strengthen its position as Nigeria’s main opposition party.

As the dispute continues, party stakeholders have renewed calls for dialogue and reconciliation, urging all factions to place the party’s collective interests above individual ambitions. Meanwhile, legal experts note that further appeals or fresh court actions could emerge as the leadership crisis unfolds.
