The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed an internal investigation is underway concerning the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Moshood Jimoh, who oversees Zone 2 Command. This follows allegations made by social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).
The police have announced that the senior officer is being questioned as part of an administrative review, while the criminal case linked to these allegations is already being dealt with in a court of competent jurisdiction.
VDM has also been invited by the police to provide evidence for the allegations he has leveled against the high-ranking officer.
In a Tuesday statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the police clarified the status of both the judicial proceedings and the internal disciplinary action related to the issue.
The statement noted that the criminal case underwent thorough investigation before being referred to the court, following legal guidance from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The police emphasized that since the matter is presently before the court, it will refrain from commenting on aspects that might interfere with or impact the trial’s outcome.
Police authorities underscored that the resolution of this case lies within the legal process, not through public discourse or media coverage.
Meanwhile, as the court proceedings unfold, the Nigeria Police Force assured that its internal accountability systems remain robust and active.
The Assistant Inspector-General in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (Force CID) has formally summoned Moshood Jimoh for questioning about these allegations.
Additionally, it was disclosed that the Force CID headquarters in Abuja had earlier reached out to VeryDarkMan on July 30, 2026, seeking his collaboration to provide information pertinent to his claims.
Reaffirming its dedication, the Force stressed its commitment to investigating all credible misconduct allegations regardless of officer rank or complainant profile, through its set disciplinary and investigative processes.
