The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has addressed why the Nigeria Police Force was unable to present the alleged Director-General of the Presidential Fiscal and Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeyemi, to the House of Representatives investigative panel as previously instructed.
The police leadership cited operational and procedural difficulties that arose during the attempt to fulfill this directive. This explanation was provided in the midst of the House of Representatives’ investigation into the controversy involving the PFIPC and allegations that its supposed Director-General used a fake appointment letter to claim his position.
The lawmakers had initially instructed the Inspector-General of Police to ensure Adeyemi’s appearance before the committee after determining the presented appointment letter was not authentic. In response, police authorities reassured the panel of their ongoing efforts to comply with the directive, promising to collaborate with other relevant agencies to locate and present the suspect.
The House committee reaffirmed its commitment to uncovering the truth about the PFIPC situation, emphasizing that no person would be allowed to compromise government institutions’ integrity through alleged impersonation or falsification of official documents.
Committee members stressed that the investigation would proceed until all concerns are addressed, cautioning that anyone found guilty would face legal repercussions.
