Fresh leadership crisis has erupted within the OK Movement, a political support platform established to mobilise backing for the joint presidential ambition of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The dispute has sparked accusations and counter-accusations among members, with rival factions laying claim to the leadership of the organisation.
The crisis intensified after the movement announced the appointment of former Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Chairman, Peter Ameh, as its National Director-General.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by Jackie Wayas, who identified herself as the National Convener of the OK Movement.According to Wayas, the appointment followed a meeting of the movement’s steering committee, where members unanimously endorsed Ameh for the position.

She explained that Ameh’s extensive political experience, leadership qualities and commitment to the objectives of the movement informed the decision. However, the announcement immediately sparked controversy, as several members questioned Wayas’ authority to describe herself as the movement’s national convener.
The development quickly exposed deep divisions within the organisation, with critics demanding clarification on how and when she assumed the leadership position. Efforts by Obasanjonews24 to obtain comments from Wayas on the controversy were unsuccessful. Phone calls and text messages sent to her were not returned as of the time this report was filed.
The disagreement has since widened into a full-blown leadership struggle, raising fresh concerns over unity within the political support group ahead of preparations for the 2027 general election. The latest crisis is expected to test the cohesion of the movement as it seeks to mobilise support for the proposed Obi-Kwankwaso alliance.
